Roger has planted potatoes in a poytunnel, the new planting season is under way. He had made the ridges some time ago and reports that they were a bit crusty with the frost. It is suprisng how warm the tunnels get with even a little sunshine so slow growth should start soon.
This freezing weather hasn't been pleasant but without wind, no snow and it being relatively short lived the vegetables out in the field have survived and should perk up well in the warmer conditions this week.
This is Marmalade with her daughter Seville, who was born to the Elmley flock on 4.1.25. Sorry I didn't set the stock up correctly for the oranges last week, you can order them this week.
Thank you to Toni for this picture. Luckily most of the markets saw a little sunshine on Saturday but at home there wasn't a glimmer. This picture was taken mid afternoon, it was well below freezing all day but then we had a sudden thaw at about 10pm.
