This baby was basking just where we park the vans so it was lucky I spotted it. It really was a baby, only the size of a pencil, pictures can be deceiving! Grass snake numbers are on the rise on the farm; we havn't seen a baby one before but have seen adults close to a metre in length. They have a tendency to nap anywhere there is black mulch laid out to suppress weeds.
Collecting pumpkins from Piddle Brook Farm for the school pumpkin fest. We don't grow 'Halloween' pumpkins and havn't had much success with squash this year either. The slugs have a lot to answer for! We do have some that we are selling on the markets at the moment but won't need to bring them into the house for long term storage this year.
