On the subject of water storage

I think every reading this will know that we were very short of water last summer. Now the ponds are virtually full so here is the guided tour.

The Greenhouse pond; does what it says!

The Big pond with our holiday lodge perched on the side

The Orchard pond, the 'sump' where the drained water ends up and is pumped back into the other ponds. Anybody coming to the farm drives passed this but you wouldn't know.

James' pond. Or maybe we should re name it for Elwyn. One of his Christmas presents was some fish for this pond, he loves fishing

And finally, Winketts pond, named after the field and it's previous owners.

They are all looking a bit bare and muddy due to our efforts to waterproof them for the coming season. It didn't work as well as we hoped due to the roller/compactor fiasco but there is plenty of water now and we will keep it topped up with solar driven pumps
